Peter Sandman is a “risk communications” consultant. Half of Sandman’s consulting work is for the oil, chemical, waste, biotech, nuclear, and electric-power industries. At the same time, Sandman has consulted for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, SustainAbility, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Environmental Defense, and Greenpeace. Sandman is the founder of the Environmental Communication Research Program at Rutgers University. He has written several trade books, software programs, and widely used texts, including Media: An Introductory Analysis of American Mass Communications.
