Hans Christian Andersen

Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author best known for his widely adapted fairy tales, including “The Little Mermaid,” “The Ugly Duckling,” and “Thumbelina.” As a boy, after seeing King Frederick VI of Denmark, he declared, “Oh, he’s nothing more than a human being!” Andersen died in 1875.

Many years ago there was an Emperor so exceedingly fond of new clothes that he spent all his money on being well dressed. He cared nothing about reviewing his soldiers, going to the theater, or going for a ride in his carriage, except to show off his new clothes.
