In the night I spoke of my father again how he vanished suddenly In the night I saw my children climb the high swaying staircase leaving as they had to do I saw my son and went to him slowly not knowing how he regarded me and hugged him and wept So much had happened I was so unprepared I stood among the dark angles of my life unable to grasp where I was And then I saw through into the shattered treasure house of another day
