Andrew Boyd is the author of Daily Afflictions and Life’s Little Deconstruction Book and is finishing work on Pilgrimage to Nowhere, a travelogue of his skeptic’s journey around the world. He cofounded Agit-Pop Communications, an award-winning “subvertising” agency, and for a decade led the satirical media campaign Billionaires for Bush. He lives in New York City.

Chase Dressler is the pseudonym of a writer living in Colorado with his lovely wife, their fat dog, and even fatter cat.

Chloë Gladstone lives in Oakland, California, where she works from home as a copywriter and copyeditor for Scholastic, a publisher of children’s literature, so her bedroom is piled high with children’s books. She once wrote her own children’s story, about a baby stingray, and though it has yet to be published, it made her sister laugh so hard she cried.

Jeff Gundy is the author of the poetry collection Spoken among the Trees and the nonfiction book Walker in the Fog: On Mennonite Writing. He lives in northwest Ohio and teaches at Bluffton University, where a large group of turkey vultures gathers atop the main classroom building. His oldest son just completed a marathon, which revived his own interest in running, or at least plodding.

Hermann Hesse (1877–1962) was a German-Swiss novelist and poet whose work explored nature and the search for meaning beyond the confines of society. His best-known novels include Steppenwolf, Siddhartha, and The Glass Bead Game, for which he won the 1946 Nobel Prize in Literature.

Dana Kletter trained as a classical pianist, then got kicked out of music school and joined a punk-rock band. A few years later she formed a group with her twin sister that performed “folk music from a country that doesn’t exist.” She now lives in San Francisco, where she still plays music, but her writing comes first.

D. Patrick Miller writes regularly for the online journal Elephant and is the founder of Fearless Books and Fearless Literary Services. His latest book is Living with Miracles: A Common-Sense Guide to A Course in Miracles. He lives in Berkeley, California.

Linda McCullough Moore is doing headstands and sending up flares to herald the publication of her new collection of stories, This Road Will Take Us Closer to the Moon, a book that she says comes highly recommended by the author. She lives in Northampton, Massachusetts.
