Jon Kral lives with his wife and dog in Boone, North Carolina. A former photojournalist for the Miami Herald, he has published books of photographs of Florida cowboys, Mississippi river boats, and motorcycle racing. His photo on this month’s cover, taken in 2014, is of his friend Karl, a woodworker living in the Tennessee mountains.
