Ellery Akers is a California artist and naturalist. She wrote her latest book of poems while sitting in a camp chair on a hiking trail.

Derek Askey is an associate editor of The Sun. He lives in Durham, North Carolina. You can follow him on Twitter @derekaskey if you promise to really lower your expectations.

Jim Daniels’s latest book of poems is Gun/Shy. He lives in a condominium in an old church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and teaches at Alma College.

Debra Gwartney is waiting patiently in western Oregon for her favorite day of summer: when the blueberries are ripe for picking. She’ll pop some straight in her mouth — still warm from the sun — and the rest will be made into a pie.

Sarah Ebba Hansen’s recent adventures have brought her to Riga, Latvia, where she teaches English. Her work has appeared in Brevity and Room.

David Hinton is a poet, essayist, and translator of Chinese poetry and philosophy. His forthcoming book is titled Wild Mind, Wild Earth: Our Place in the Sixth Extinction. He lives in East Calais, Vermont.

Joseph Holt is the author of the short-story collection Golden Heart Parade. He lives near Fairbanks, Alaska, where he often sees moose through his kitchen window and runs outdoors year-round, snow and subzero temperatures be damned.

Becky Mandelbaum has worked in three national-park gift stores and was once attacked by an owl. She lives in Bellingham, Washington, and is the author of a short-story collection and a novel.

John Poch’s most recent poetry collection is God’s Poems: The Beauty of Poetry and the Christian Imagination. He lives in Lubbock, Texas, and teaches at Texas Tech University.

Jim Ralston has entered old age with faith, hope, fear, and trembling — the same mingling of strengths and shortcomings he has always felt. He teaches at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in West Virginia.

Gloria Baker Feinstein lives in Portland, Oregon. Her most recent book of photography includes poems by Oregon’s former poet laureate Kim Stafford.

Drayden Hebb is a retired clinical social worker and a small-sailboat builder who lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

Jon Kral traveled the world as a photojournalist before retiring to the North Carolina mountains, where he lives a quiet life with his wife, their dog and cat, and his beloved Leica cameras.

Dan Pearlman is a street photographer and jazz musician who lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His photographs of New Orleans festivals will become a book someday, once he gets around to finishing it.

Lisa Rigge is a retired adult-education photography instructor. She has also taught general-education classes in a county jail. She enjoys hiking in Northern California.

John Wehrheim lives in Lihue, Hawaii. A photographer, filmmaker, and engineer, he tries hard these days to keep up with his granddaughter, Ua.

Marianne Werner is a writer and retired teacher who lives in Ashland, Oregon. Her three books of poetry and photography include Findings, Moments, and Simple Images.

Harry Wilson is a retired professor who taught at Bakersfield College in California. His photographs have been exhibited widely, but fame and fortune continue to elude him. He lives near Reno, Nevada.

David Wolanski lives in Dover, Delaware. Recently retired from his day job as a scientist and bureaucrat, he is working on a project that uses photography and writing to combat domestic violence.

Forest Woodward is trying to complain less and listen more by making pictures of things he cares about. He lives in Franklin, North Carolina.
