Parnaz Foroutan is the author of the novel The Girl from the Garden and a memoir, Home Is a Stranger, forthcoming from Amberjack Publishing in winter 2020. She lives in Los Angeles, California.

Tracy Frisch is a writer and homesteader who grows food for herself and her barter partners in rural Upstate New York. She is currently interested in addressing climate disruption through regenerative agriculture, a farming system that captures carbon in the soil.

Ralph Hubbell is an author and translator who teaches writing to English Language Learner students at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Donovan McAbee was once the front man for an alt-country band made up of British academics. He now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where he teaches at Belmont University.

W.S. Merwin was a U.S. poet laureate, an environmental activist, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, and the author of more than twenty-five books of poetry. He and his wife restored their Hawaii home, the site of a former pineapple plantation, to acres of native palm trees. He died in March 2019 at the age of ninety-one.

Jane Ratcliffe’s work has appeared in New England Review, Longreads, and O: The Oprah Magazine. She lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with two cats and one dog, and she hopes someday to own thousands of acres so she can give all stray animals a safe home.

David Zoby lives in Casper, Wyoming, with his two dogs, Henderson the Rain King and Rocket. He is a frequent contributor to national fly-fishing and outdoor magazines.

Larry Blackwood lives in Bozeman, Montana, where he spends his time taking photographs, camping, and wondering what the world is coming to.

James Burton lives in Tucson, Arizona, where he photographs the Sonoran Desert. A retired geologist and chemist, he is now allowing the creative side of his brain to roam free.

George Filgate has been taking photographs for fifty years, and his work has appeared in The New York Times and The Register-Guard. He lives in Eugene, Oregon.

Poppy de Garmo recently returned to photography after owning a catering business for twenty-five years. She lives in Boulder Creek, California, where she grows medicinal herbs and loves to be alone.

Robert Graham lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina, and is the art director of The Sun.

Rush Jagoe’s photographs have appeared in Bon Appétit, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and Condé Nast Traveler. He lives in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Capers Rumph is a photographer and artist who lives in Hillsboro, Oregon. Her work has appeared in Yes! and the book Farming While Black: Soul Fire Farm’s Practical Guide to Liberation on the Land.

Linda Thomas is an avid gardener, biker, and hiker. She lives in Ashland, Oregon, where she volunteers as a photographer for conservation groups.
