Chaya Bhuvaneswar is a doctor, writing teacher, and mother. Her family recently adopted a puppy who yawns a lot. She lives in Newton, Massachusetts.

Synne Borgen grew up in a Norwegian coastal town and has lived in New York City for the past decade. She holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from Columbia University, where she has also taught. This is her first publication.

Ross Gay wants to understand joy. He is the author of four books of poetry and two essay collections, including Inciting Joy, which was published in October 2022.

Chera Hammons used to work in accounting but now views poetry as the most satisfying way to balance abstract equations. She lives and gardens in Amarillo, Texas, where the wind, bugs, and birds all but guarantee that she receives little reward for her work. Her latest book of poetry is Maps of Injury.

Brenda Miller lives in Bellingham, Washington, where she teaches at Western Washington University, dotes on her puppy, sings, and occasionally writes books. Her latest essay collections are Telephone: Essays in Two Voices, which she wrote with Julie Marie Wade, and A Braided Heart: Essays on Writing and Form.

David Heiden is a doctor and photographer who began taking pictures while working with refugees in Africa and Southeast Asia. His first book of nonfiction, Dust to Dust: A Doctor’s View of Famine in Africa, was published in 1992, and he is working on a second, about the excitement and underside of humanitarian relief. He lives in San Francisco.

Clemens Kalischer was born in Bavaria, Germany, and immigrated to the United States in 1942. His photographs appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, and Time. He died in 2018 at the age of ninety-seven.

Kunal Mehra is a multimedia artist who lives in Portland, Oregon. He’s in the process of publishing his first book, Wounds to Wonders: Healing and Thriving from a Separation or Divorce.

Dan Musgrave grew up in rural Kansas. He is a writer and photographer who is interested in how humans and animals live together. His essay “Eclipse,” about his dog Maynard, appeared in the January 2018 issue of The Sun.

Naomi Stolow left a long e-commerce career in London for a better life deep in the UK countryside. She lives in an old milking parlor and loves taking pictures of wildlife, nature, and, occasionally, people.
