Barbara Ehrenreich is a political essayist, social critic, and author or co-author of twelve books, including For Her Own Good: 150 Years of the Experts’ Advice to Women (Anchor) and Blood Rites: Origins and History of the Passions of War (Henry Holt). She has written for Ms., Harper’s, the Nation, the Progressive, the New Republic, Atlantic Monthly, and the New York Times Magazine. She lives and writes near Key West, Florida.

moreFrances Lefkowitz is the author of two books, Marilyn Monroe and David Letterman, both part of Chelsea House Publishers’ acclaimed Pop Culture Legends series. Her memoir in this issue is part of a book-in-progress about growing up poor, white, and female in the San Francisco of the 1960s and ’70s. She currently lives in coastal Maine and recently left her job as senior editor for Body & Soul magazine to concentrate on writing her book and pursuing her hobbies, which include surfing and perfecting her Spanish.

His collection of essays, Turning Bones, is forthcoming from the University of Nebraska Press. He teaches in the creative writing program at Ohio State University.
