The Sun and Higher Education
This month’s issue begins with a revealing, in-depth interview with professor Pranav Jani on campus activism. Although The Sun has never had a university affiliation, we’ve been located in the college town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for our entire existence, and the work, interests, and values of university students have always been important elements of the magazine.
Many college instructors use The Sun in their classrooms, either by sharing work that has appeared in its pages or using topics or photographs as prompts for their students’ writing. We provide free subscriptions to students who might not otherwise be able to afford one and to libraries, academic institutions, and teachers. Our editors are sometimes available to speak with individual students or entire classes, offering insights into our processes.
Libraries and schools can subscribe to The Sun through EBSCO by calling 205-981-4619. If you are an instructor and would like to request a free subscription for use in your classroom, please email [email protected]. If you’re teaching a graduate or undergraduate class on publishing or creative writing and would like one of our editors to speak to your students, we will do our best to accommodate you. Please email [email protected] with details.
