Susan Hankla has worked as a poet-in-the-schools in Virginia since 1973. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in Poetry Northwest, Southern Poetry Review, and Open Places. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she is presently working on an illustrated novel.
